UNBAKED TO PERFECTION: Why I decided to make cookie dough my career
“Why Cookie Dough?” – I guess, in short, because I grew up eating the bad for you, preservative
filled, raw egg infused, baking soda bubble-in- your-tummy cookie dough for BAKING and every
time felt some slight worry in my actual gut. And TBH, I was sort of bored of chocolate chip
cookie dough and vanilla ice cream. First of all, there was never enough cookie dough in MY ice
cream and after I fished for the slightly dried out, cookie dough balls that tasted nothing like
the creamy and gritty freshly made cookie dough my mom and I would bake nearly every
weekend, I was left with, well, vanilla ice cream. Second of all, I yearned for a more culinary
indulgence with more unique and interesting flavors but with the texture of cookie dough I
loved so much.
So after a giant CPG brand recalled its cookie dough back in ’09 as 78 people were hospitalized
with e.coli from the raw flour (so could have been me!), I set out on a mission to make a safe to
eat cookie dough that is cookie dough just for eating and not for baking. I wanted this dough to
have fewer than 10 ingredients and taste just like my freshly whipped homemade cookie
dough. This homemade cookie dough I sought out to create, I wanted to be better than even
the cookie dough I would make at home. I don’t always buy premium Belgian
chocolate, or hormone free butter, or alcohol free pure vanilla for my pantry but for THIS
product, I wanted only the best. It is INSANE what a difference these ingredients make to
enhance the taste of Edoughble! The dark cocoa, the loads of Belgian chocolate chips (we use
2x more than your average cookie dough recipe), the pure vanilla and the rBGH free butter
really make a well balanced cookie dough.
Then we created! In addition to our classic chocolate chip, we created flavors on flavors of
cookie dough you have never before seen as cookie dough! This is my culinary mecca. From
mixing and matching flavors of dough with toppings and swirls of caramel, fudge, frosting,
preserves, PB, you name it, we can create it! We launch over 10 new seasonal, small batch
exclusive flavors every year and we hope you get to wake up your taste buds and try them all!
So, “why cookie dough?” I mean, because it’s the most indulgent dessert in the world! It is
unbaked to perfection, gritty, creamy, buttery, spreadable, sweet, balanced, full of flavor and
brings me back to some of the most amazing carefree childhood memories I have. Thank you
